Samsung Charge is a big phone compared to other 4G phones out there so I didn't want to add a lot of bulk to the existing phone. I'm also not a fan of most silicone-only cases because they make it hard to slide into a pocket, it feels flimsy, they tend to look cheap IMO... plus they are a magnet for lint, dog hair and other debris that comes its way. This Commuter series case from Otterbox takes care of those issues with a great design.
It's two pieces - a snug fitting silicone inner cover (that wraps up and around the lower buttons - giving them some extra protection)... and then, this is where Otterbox did it right -- they wrap the back and sides with a hard plastic that gives it a professional look, some added rigidity, and a smoother surface over most of the phone - so you can slide it into a pocket without a lot of fuss.
The fit is awesome -- no alignment issues with buttons/plugs/speakers/camera lenses etc. The other great detail is the silicone flaps that cover the headphone and charging jacks. They are simple to get to and keep the fuzz out of your holes (thats important stuff). Here's another added benefit -- I found the Samsung Charge's power button is pretty sensitive and super easy to hit when grabbing the phone. The silicone button covers increase the force needed to hit this button -- in a perfect way. I find i'm less likely to power the phone on and off inadvertently. Very pleased with that aspect.
In addition to the two piece case, Otterbox includes a nice quality screen protector that covers the entire screen area (others I bought from Verizon only covered the viewing screen but left the glossy upper areas exposed). They also include a mini squeegee card and micro fiber square so you have all the tools to get the protector on right. Simple but nice touch.
Overall -- an awesome case that fits the bill perfectly. Well designed, well thought out, well played!

I'm rarely impressed with phone cases but this one was a great find for me.

This Otterbox came quick and was easy to put on. It does add some bulk to your phone, but now I feel like I don't have to baby my new toy. Still fits in my pocket, would definitely recommend to friends.

I just installed this on my Droid Charge and was all-around impressed. The screen protector fits perfectly, and it appears that it is held in place by static cling which came in handy after having to move it slightly. The silicon case fits perfectly around and over everything, and the hard shell case does too. My biggest fear when buying this was if the screen would look and function differently, and I am happy to say it does not. For under $17 plus shipping, you can't go wrong.
